APROSOJA – Mato Grosso Soybean Producers Association was established in February 2005 with the aim of representing Mato Grosso soybean and corn producers, actively participate in policy decisions related to the sector, maintain dialogue with public and private institutions and create projects to improve the sustainability of soybeans in the state. The association represents one of the country's most important economic sectors, accounting for exports of more than US$18 billion in 2008, making it Brazil's top agricultural product. Within this context, Mato Grosso is the main soybean producing state, responsible for around 30 percent of national production and yields per hectare above the national average. In addition, soybean production is one of the main economic activities in Mato Grosso, representing more than 79 percent of the state's exports
