Ark Aid Street Mission Inc. The Ark Aid Street Mission was founded in 1984. Since then it has grown in its mandate to serve people who live on the margins of society. The Ark, as it is popularly known, is a charity registered with the Canada Revenue Agency, supported by a wide variety of local people, churches, and businesses. The motivating factor of the Board, staff, volunteers and donors is to practically express Christian faith and love wherever they are needed most. Since 2020, the Ark has gained a vast number of programs and services in hopes to serve our community better! Previously, being well-known for nightly dinners, we now offer: Laundry and shower services 5 days a week, with additional fresh clothing and basic needs items available Drop-in and snack program 5 days a week Dinner service 7 days a week Out of the Cold Program (4 month, 24-hour winter drop-in) running Dec 1 -March 31 Wish to Be Home Project (transitional housing with an emphasis on stabilizing, re-connection, and finding ho Wish to Be Home, previously known as London W.I.S.H. (Winter Interim Solution to Homelessness), began in November 2020, when a group of industry leaders in London, Ontario started a conversation regarding the ongoing struggles with properly supporting the homeless in our community. After receiving funding from the City of London, we have since moved from an Interim Solution, to an ongoing initiative to end homelessness in London. We continue to serve a population that has been turned away from many other services in our city. We offer a low barrier approach in honoring safe housing as a human right. We empower our community members to identify their own needs, and believe that boundaries, respect and transparency are integral to any semblance of success! We value harm reduction, meeting people where they are at, low barrier approaches, safety, choice, compassion, and collaboration to contribute to the best possible outcomes for the community that we serve.
