Better Globe Forestry Ltd (BGF) was incorporated in Kenya in 2004 and in Uganda in 2009. Its core expertise lies in commercial dryland afforestation and in-depth knowledge of living & environmental conditions in semi-arid areas. As such it is well-positioned to anticipate & mitigate the effects of climate change in East Africa, in a commercial and sustainable way. Head Office is in Nairobi, with field operations in Kenya’s Eastern and Coast provinces, as well as in Northern Uganda. The BGF model consists of vertical integration of all activities, from seed & seedling production to plantation establishment, maintenance, exploitation, and processing. Its flagship species are Melia volkensii (mukau) dryland mahogany uniquely adapted to low-rainfall areas, indigenous to East Africa, and maturing in 15 to 20 years, Acacia senegal producing gum arabic and Melia azedarach (Chinaberry, giant lira), another fast-growing mahogany species planted with partner farmers in Northern Uganda. BGF is the publisher of Miti magazine, a platform for the exchange of forestry knowledge between forest professionals & entrepreneurs. https://miti-magazine.betterglobeforestry.com/
