CEMCAT, Multiple Sclerosis Center of Catalonia, is a world reference center in the diagnosis and comprehensive treatment of multiple sclerosis, as well as in the research of new drugs and specialized training of multiple sclerosis professionals. Under the direction of Dr. Xavier Montalban, Head of the Neurology-Neuroimmunology Service of the Vall d'Hebron University Hospital, CEMCAT seeks to provide a comprehensive response to patients with neuroimmunological diseases, especially multiple sclerosis. Our goal is to improve their state of health and achieve the highest degree of quality of life. Every year more than 3,000 patients, 30% of those affected by multiple sclerosis in Catalonia, receive care at our center. The current CEMCAT building, inaugurated in 2012, has facilities of almost 2,000 m2 divided into 3 floors that include Consultations, Day Hospital, Neurorehabilitation Area, Independent Living Laboratory, etc. This infrastructure allows us to offer patients diagnostic assistance, treatment and rehabilitation services, as well as to participate in clinical trials and research, if they wish, without leaving the center located in the Vall d'Hebron Hospital Campus in Barcelona. Our team is made up of a group of 70 multidisciplinary professionals (neurologists, researchers, neuropsychologists, nurses, physiotherapists, assistants, occupational therapists and social workers) of recognized expertise in the field of rehabilitation who work every day to stop the impact of multiple sclerosis on patients and their environment.
