The Chartered Institute of Linguists (CIOL) is the UK’s Royal Charter body for language professionals: translators, interpreters, educators and linguists who use their language skills in business, the professions and government and for students preparing for a career using their languages. CIOL aims to enhance and promote the value of languages and language skills in the public interest and provides UK Ofqual-regulated qualifications through CIOL Qualifications. Founded in 1910, CIOL has over 5,000 Fellows, Members, Associates and Affiliates across its professional and affiliate grades of membership. Professional qualifications awarded by our associated charity CIOL Qualifications include the: Diploma in Translation (Level 7 Masters level) Certificate in Translation (Level 6 Degree level) Diploma in Public Service Interpreting (Level 6 Degree Level) CIOL benefits from being the only professional membership body in the UK that welcomes translators, interpreters and all other linguists, which is why we are able to offer such a varied range of insight, advice, networks and opportunities.
