Coombe Abbey was founded in 1150 AD by Cistercian Monks, then known as the Abbey of Cumbe. It has an illustrious past; Dissolution by King Henry VIII, Private residency to royalty, involvement in the infamous Gunpowder Plot to name but a few… Bought in 1992 by the "No Ordinary Hotels" Group, today it welcomes guests from far and wide and continues to go from strength to strength.
