Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) is the regulatory body governing the safety aspects of civil aviation in India. With the revision to Section 4A of the Aircraft Act, 1934 in September 2020, the DGCA has been formally recognized as a body constituted by the Central Government with the responsibility to carry out safety oversight and regulatory functions in respect of matters specified in the Act or the rules made thereunder. The administration of the DGCA vests with the Director General.
