General Directorate of Security

The General Directorate of Security or Turkish Police Organization, is a state organization responsible for internal security, first established on 10 April 1845 and today organized in all provinces and districts in Turkey. The General Directorate of Security is in charge of urban areas, while the Coast Guard Command is in charge of coastal areas and the Gendarmerie General Command is in charge of rural areas.
