Southwest Minzu University (SMU), located in Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan Province, is a comprehensive ethnic university directly under the State Ethnic Affairs Commission of the People's Republic of China, It is a comprehensive ethnic university under the State Ethnic Affairs Commission of the People's Republic of China, the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China, the People's Government of Sichuan Province and the People's Government of Chengdu Municipality. The university is a member of the "Yangtze River-Volga River" university alliance. The university was one of the first nationalities established by the old proletarian revolutionaries such as Mao Zedong, Zhou Enlai, Deng Xiaoping and Wang Weizhou under their personal care. As of June 2022, the university has three campuses in Wuhou, Airport and Taiping Park, covering an area of nearly 3,000 acres, with a building area of 1,136,000 square meters; it has 26 faculties offering 87 undergraduate majors, 2 post-doctoral mobile stations, 4 first-level disciplines authorized for doctoral degrees, 26 first-level disciplines authorized for master's degrees, and 21 professional degree authorization points; there are nearly 3,000 teaching staff. Among them, 664 are doctoral supervisors and master's supervisors, 56 are experts receiving special allowances from the State Council, and there are more than 30,000 full-time students of 56 nationalities.
