Evil Empire came into being in 2019, founded by four partners, including two former Motion Twin employees, with the ambition of evolving the Dead Cells universe. Since then, we've released numerous updates, both free and paid, and forged collaborations with popular games such as Fall Guys, Terraria, and Hollow Knight, as well as with renowned partners such as Konami, Netflix, and Sony. In 2020, we won the Pegasus award for “Best Exploitation Service” in recognition of the quality of our work. Thanks to these efforts, sales of Dead Cells have climbed from 2.5 to 12 million copies, and the license has expanded onto new platforms (PS5, Netflix, mobile) as well as new media, notably with the launch of a board game and an animated series. This adventure has enabled us to consolidate a solid expertise, both in game production and in marketing and business, aspects at the heart of the studio's DNA. In 2024, our marketing team distinguished itself by organizing an indie showcase, the triple-i, with the biggest independent studios (Red Hook, Megacrit, Poncle, etc.). Alongside developments for Dead Cells, the studio expanded to 70 people, to accommodate two new game projects based on historical licenses. The first of these, The Rogue Prince of Persia, launched in May 2024 and currently in early access, has received excellent reviews and is generating great anticipation for its version 1.0 scheduled for 2025. Although we've grown, we're still committed to autonomous, human-sized teams of 10 to 20 people. Our core values are based on proactivity, responsibility and a can-do attitude. We believe that by putting our hard work and intelligence at the service of others, our colleagues and partners, we will create games we can be proud of.
