Expand Networks was a technology company that helped pioneer the Wide Area Network (WAN) Optimization market. Founded in 1998, Expand Networks has grown to be the leading provider of "Virtual Proximity" solutions over the Wide Area Network. Expand Networks has more than 4,500 customers with over 50,000 units deployed and boasts the industries largest installation of over 4,200+ devices. On 11 January 2012 the company was liquidated and most of the assets were sold to Riverbed Technology, which immediately terminated all the company's products and ceased support.
