Greendale House Palliative & Hospice Care -previously known as HospiceWits- provides care to meet the physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs of all our patients facing life-limiting illnesses and their families. We aim to provide the best quality of life for our patients. We try to be involved with our patients from their diagnosis- offering love, comfort, and emotional support to them and their families. We have an in-patient facility in Houghton to ensure constant, regulated care to those in need. Emotional support and grief counselling are available for both patients and loved ones. Our home-based care focuses on providing care in the comfort of our patients’ homes. Our network of palliative-trained nurses, doctors, and caregivers ensures quality home-based care. Social workers, spiritual counsellors, and psychologists are available for emotional and psychosocial needs. Our caregivers aspire to help our patients live life to the fullest, all while in the comfort of their homes. We respect all our patients and their families and place palliative-trained nursing staff according to each patient’s needs. We offer accredited courses such as grief, loss, and bereavement courses, or a one-week introduction to palliative care to professionals and the public. Our other courses cover HIV/AIDS, as well as dementia. Greendale House Thrift Shops have a wide variety of new and pre-loved, donated treasures for sale. If you have furniture or items that need a new home, please call 011 728 1052, or email [email protected]. We collect too! We are so lucky to have an incredible team of volunteers who dedicate their time and effort to helping us. They help ensure the continuity of care and comfort of all our patients. Volunteers are always welcome! If you’d like to lend a helping hand, please reach out at [email protected].
