The mission of the Hartford School District is to provide and ensure a caring and dynamic learning community where the intellectual development of students is our highest priority. Our nine schools, four of which serve the wider regional community, offer an educational community where the qualities of academic rigor are closely valued. We are committed to fostering academic, social, and emotional growth in a physically and emotionally safe learning environment that nurtures a sense of belonging in all its members. Our dedicated and energetic faculty and staff emphasize intellectual curiosity, innovative learning opportunities, and collaboration to achieve the highest standards of academic performance. The students in the Hartford School District have a wide variety of learning opportunities, including Place-Based Learning, which fosters equity, evidence-based decision-making, and engagement in the ecosystems and communities that students are surrounded by daily. Hartford is a vibrant and diverse town nestled in the beautiful upper river valley area on the border of Vermont and New Hampshire. It spans five distinct communities, which are all served by the Hartford School District. The villages of Wilder, White River Junction, West Hartford, Hartford, and Quechee each have their own unique identity, but come together to form a strong town community. The school district has three village elementary schools, a shared middle school, and a shared high school.
