Iasf-Bologna is a local institute of the nationwide inaf (istituto nazionale di astrofisica). inaf is a non-profit state-funded italian research institute whose activities are mainly devoted to astronomy and astrophysics. The main research projects of iasf-bo are observations in the microwave, infrared, optical, x-ray and gamma ray energy bands, and observations of cosmic rays. our activities include the design and realization of telescopes, detectors and electronics — as well as the interpretation of the observations. In close collaboration with a number of scientists and institutions from all over the world, we are currently investigating issues as cosmic background radiation, agn, galaxies and stars formation, gamma-ray bursts, compact galactic sources, sky polarization, and many others similar topics — in other words, the top of the contemporary astrophysics agenda.
