JORDAN AVIATION was founded in 1998 as a privately owned Jordanian Airline headquartered in Amman, by the ambitious and determined entrepreneur, Captain Mohammed Al-Khashman. Captain Khashman’s vision was realized in October 2000 when JAV (as it was known then) obtained its Air Operator Certificate (AOC) and commenced operation in October 2000. This vision was developed further when JAV became a member of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) and the Arab Air Carriers Organization (AACO). Between the years 2001 and 2003 JAV concentrated its activities on charter contracts with the U.N. Peace Keepers troops and became and continues to be an accredited vendor. The United Nations acknowledged JAV’s efforts by granting it several awards and recognition letters. As a result of the declaring of Aqaba, Jordan as an open sky territory and with the relaxation of the civil air regulations, the company relocated its operation there at the King Hussein International Airport, and launched its first flight from there in 2004. During the years 2005 and 2007 JAV operated programmed charter flights from King Hussein International Airport to destinations in the region including Kuwait, Doha, Alexandria, and Dubai ,Cairo , Bahrain. Jordan Aviation also received His Majesty King Abdulla award for being one of the top 10 projects improving Aqaba economics. In addition, JAV's charter operations now covered the Globe. In 2006 JAV started Wet Leasing its aircraft to other airlines. In that same year JAV completed its first audit for the IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) with no findings, in doing so, becoming one of the youngest airlines to complete this audit, joining the World’s leading airlines in their commitment to global safety and security. The IOSA Accreditation has been maintained consecutively since that first award with the Airline successfully completing the required renewal audits every two years since then.
