LAHAV is a nationwide organization established by parents of premature babies and adults which were born prematurely. The organization goals are to promote and improve the medical, social and developmental status of premature babies in Israel and their families. More goals are to raise awareness for prematurity outcomes and to promote better care of the NICUs in Israel in collaboration with the Israeli neonatal society LAHAV has many activities such as: 1. Promoting the awareness of the RSV vaccination in order to prevent morbidity in Israel. 2. Working on establishment of a breast milk bank in Israel and the encouragement of pumping and breastfeeding 3. Extending maternity leave for parents of premature babies 4. An uncompromising struggle to increase manpower standards in the NICUs 5. Representation of parents in personal issues and individual problems In government offices 6. Media exposure to issues of premature babies 7. Representation of the parents in government committees on the Premature day in the Knesset 8. Production of initial handbook manuals to support and guide the parent during the hospitalization and after discharge 9. Parent to Parent programs 10. Construction for the renovation of the parent rooms in the NICUs throughout the country 11. Hot line and online information The association is recognized as a public institution (recognition of donations under section 46), registered as a non-profit organization.
