Fighting Poverty, Achieving Justice, Improving Lives. The Montana Legal Services Association (MLSA) is a federally and privately funded program that provides free legal assistance in civil cases to low-income people. Our mission is to protect and enhance the civil legal rights of, and promote systemic change for, Montanans living in poverty. MLSA advocates achieve safety for domestic violence survivors and children, prevent illegal evictions and foreclosures, protect public benefits for the basic needs of people without other resources, and more. Using nationally recognized practices and technology, MLSA provides aid across a mostly rural state, including on Tribal Nations. MLSA takes cases that improve clients’ lives and the lives of others with similar issues. Through advocacy and strategy, MLSA provides opportunity for all low-income Montanans to rise out of poverty.
