PWJ is an international NGO dedicated to supporting people affected by conflict, natural disaster, and poverty around the world. With its headquarters in Japan, PWJ is operational in more than 20 countries in Africa, Middle East, Asia, Latin America and Japan and provides assistance in various sectors. In Kenya, PWJ launched its operation in Dadaab in 2012 and in Kakuma in 2015. PWJ Kenya Mission has been working as an implementing partner by various UN agencies including UNHCR, UN Habitat, UNICEF, UN Women, WFP and UNFPA to implement projects in WASH, shelter and livelihoods. PWJ Kenya is currently implementing WASH, shelter and supply chain support projects under Project Partnership Agreement (PPA) contract with UNHCR and the government of Kenya in Dadaab and Kakuma Refugee Camps and Kalobeyei Integrated Settlement. PWJ Kenya has a country office in Nairobi and field offices in Kakuma, Turkana County, in Dadaab, Garissa County, and in Kapenguria, West Pokot County. It is staffed by three international staff and 228 national staff. PWJ Kenya's strategies and approaches focus on the project sustainability by putting people's competency and engagement at the center, promote gender and social inclusion, implement integrated WASH service delivery systems by engaging with primary service providers such as governments and the private sectors, and ensure the integrity and quality of projects through transparent procurement and appropriate supervision in accordance with technical standards.
