Petroleum Commission is the upstream oil and gas regulator in Ghana. Our mandate is to promote, regulate and manage the efficient conduct of upstream petroleum operations and all allied activities and the utilization of petroleum resources on sustainable basis for the overall benefit of the citizens of Ghana. Ghana’s upstream petroleum industry though nascent, continues to evolve at a promising rate, rife with opportunities for the nation. Since the discovery of oil and gas in commercial quantities in the Jubilee Field in 2007, 25 additional discoveries including seven new discoveries in the Deep Water Tano Cape Three Points (DWTCTP) Block have been made in the first quarter of 2013. Ghana’s upstream petroleum industry continues to grow steadily. Ghana continues to attract established players in the industry such as ExxonMobil and others. Key Upstream Operators in the industry include: Tullow, Kosmos, Eni, Aker, Camal Energy, ExxonMobil, Amni, Sahara Group, Britania-U, Eco Atlantic, Gosco, UB Resources, Medea, AGM, Springfield and Swiss African Petroleum. Vision “A world class regulator promoting Ghana as an upstream petroleum hub.”
