Plan International is an International humanitarian development organisation without religious, political or governmental affiliations whose main objective is to "work for a just world, which advances children's rights and equality for girls". The organisation mainly thrives on sponsorship and grants for its operations. Currently present in more than 70 countries around the world for over 80 years. Plan International has been operating in Ghana since 1992 reaching over 2000 communities (mostly deprived rural areas) in 52 districts across 8 regions. Plan International Ghana directly sponsors close to 2000 children and indirectly reaching 2 million children through our child-centred development interventions. Plan International Ghana works at individual, family, community, civil society, national and global levels to support empowerment of children, young people and communities. Our approaches are rights – based, where we promote the realisation of the right to survival, development, protection and participation for all children, particularly girls and excluded children. We promote gender equality, ensuring affirmative action for girls wherever necessary. We do this together with partners at all levels including community based organisations, wider civil society, private sector, government actors as well as media.
