Power Finance Corporation Ltd. (PFC) is an Infrastructure Finance Company dedicated to financing the power sector. It was established by the Govt. of India in in July 1986 to provide exclusive focus for financing and development of the power sector in the country. Today, PFC is the single largest lender to the Indian power sector and supports about 23% of the country's installed power generation capacity. PFC, in its role as a Development Financial Institution has also been supporting State Power Utilities through a variety of capacity building measures. PFC is also the nodal agency for development of Ultra Mega Power Projects (UMPP) and Restructured Accelerated Power Development and Reforms Program (R-APDRP).
