Pabna Textile Engineering College has a long history. During the British colonial rule in 1915, a weaving School was established at Pabna to meet Textile Technician Education by offering artisan level courses. It was named Pabna Govt. Weaving School. By studying different documents & papers it was seen that the Governor of Bangla of the then British Government visited this institution on 25th January in 1926. Then the Governor of Bangla, after visiting given an important above said conclusion about this Govt. Weaving School at Pabna. Then the Governor of Bangla made the following comment during the visit to the Pabna Government Weaving School. I Visited the Weaving School today and was much interested in the samples of work that were shown to me. The School is doing good work and reserves every encouragement. Dated: 25-01-1926 It was upgraded to District Textile Institute in 1980 to offer two years certificate course in Textile Technology. In 1994 this Institute was promoted to conduct three years Diploma courses in Textile Engineering under Bangladesh Technical Education Board. To meet the challenge of increasing demand for sophisticated & latest technology, the Government decided to upgrade this institution to B.sc in Textile Engineering College in 2006 to offer 4 Years Bachelor degree in Textile Engineering by affiliation with the University of Rajshahi and Renamed it as Pabna Textile Engineering College. The College started its journey with 80 students. At present, the college is affiliated by Bangladesh University of Textiles. It has four departments (Yarn, Fabric, Wet and Apparel Engineering) with 120 students.
