Quezon City University (QCU), previously known as Quezon City Polytechnic University (QCPU), serves as the Local University of Quezon City, Philippines. It was founded on March 1, 1994, under City Council Ordinance No. SP-0171, initially operating as Quezon City Polytechnic. The university was established to provide technical and vocational training aimed at developing skilled and technical workers. In 2001, Quezon City Polytechnic University was established through City Ordinance No. SP-1030, S-2001, following its elevation to university status. Two decades later, in 2021, it was renamed Quezon City University to comply with Republic Act 10931, the Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education Act, which provides free higher education at state and local universities and colleges. This change was formalized by the Quezon City Council through SP-2812, known as the Quezon City University Charter of 2019.
