Royal North Shore Hospital (RNSH) Surgical Education, Research and Training (SERT) Institute Ensuring high-quality patient care through cutting-edge education, research, training and mentoring of surgeons at the Royal North Shore hospital Surgically driven, established by the Chair of Surgery at the Northern Clinical School of the University of Sydney, in conjunction with the RNS hospital, in response to the NSW State Health Plan – Towards 2021 “Supporting and Harnessing Research and Innovation” Aims: - To promote Surgical Academia - the engagement of a surgeon in academic and administrative activities - at the RNS hospital - To develop a multifactorial intervention aimed at increasing surgical academic activities in the RNS hospital - To develop tools to assess the efficacy of these interventions Objectives: - To support surgeons in pursuing evidence-based surgical academia at the RNS hospital - To promote academic activities of all surgical departments at the RNS hospital - To create new academic career opportunities for young surgeons - To provide a dedicated physical space for all surgeons to enhance collaboration and interaction on the RNS campus
