Save Street Children Uganda

153 employees

The founders of SASCU had long lost their dreams and their worlds were confined to desperate living on the streets of Kampala. Having been saved by people of good will, they bound their efforts into an organization dedicated to saving street children, testifying and talking passionately to young boys and girls vulnerable to joining street life, and working with families, communities and government institutions to withdraw children from the street, rehabilitate and reintegrate them, while supporting them to achieve professional dreams and economic prosperity. SASCU was established in 2005 and is registered as a national not for profit, nongovernmental organization (REG NO S.5914/8163). It is a child protection agency specializing in protecting and rehabilitating street children, as well as disadvantaged children and youths in slum areas in Kampala City Suburbs, enabling them to realize and fulfill their potentials and dreams. SASCU has its activities concentrated in and around Kampala where there are overwhelmingly high number of children living on streets either independently or with ‘street families.’ who live in extremely appalling conditions in slums around the city. We also include those who are vulnerable due to various reasons, particularly children who have fled from the poverty and conflict ridden and Karamoja regions, children who are orphaned or are infected with HIV/AIDS and those who are grossly mistreated/ abused in their homes by parents/ guardians.
