Shrimati Indira Gandhi College (SIGC) was founded in 1984 by Vidya Seva Ratnam K. Santhanam with a single-minded devotion to educate and empower women. We're an unaided college, affiliated to Bharathidasan University, and are one of the first two colleges in the state, founded exclusively for women. From a humble beginning of 2 courses and 10 teachers, today, the college has grown into an educational hub for women with 16 academic and 7 research departments together offering 51 UG and PG programs. The 'A' grade accreditation by NAAC and thousands of students who trust us to shape their career paths stand testimony to the quality education we provide. Our large campus spans over an area of 9.04 acres in the heart of the city, provides world-class academic infrastructure and residential facilities. Come, join our community of intelligent women and translate your dreams into reality.
