St Martin’s is an independent, diverse, co-educational, Anglican school, offering boarding facilities from Grade 7 through to Grade 12. St Martin’s is especially valued by parents who want their children to be part of a rich heritage. Our historical roots grow deep and we are proud of the many prominent South Africans who have walked the corridors of our school. This richness of heritage continues to impact profoundly on all our pupils who are privileged to walk the very same corridors. Our school offers an education for children from as young as three in our Pre-Preparatory phase where solid foundations are laid using a play-based curriculum that focusses on developing creativity and critical thinking and where from an early age, children are taught to be the best they can be. Modern teaching methods are used in a traditional environment by teachers who are dedicated to the vital role they play in forming young minds. In the Junior Preparatory and Senior Preparatory phases students receive a holistic education that incorporates problem-solving and practical project-based learning. Children are encouraged to be conscious of their environment and community. Our nurturing school environment encourages the academic and spiritual needs of each student and fosters learning and personal growth through the curriculum. As a Christian school, tolerance, understanding and respect of other faiths is encouraged. The High School is a complex of charming older buildings set in beautifully tranquil gardens on a heritage site. The chapel, which is the focal point of the St Martin's community, was designed by the H Baker and FLH Fleming stable of architects. The high school is a dynamic learning environment offering an excellent education where meaningful and realistic learning experiences take place. Equally, great emphasis is placed on the all-round development of each individual and much care is taken to nurture a sense of purpose and identity within each student.
