One of the oldest law enforcement agencies in the country. Sheriff Tompkins mission is to serve the citizens of Boston, Revere, Chelsea & Winthrop. The Suffolk County Sheriff’s Department employs more than 1,000 custody and non–custody staff to help ensure the efficient and effective operations of the Department’s two facilities – the Suffolk County House of Correction and the Nashua Street Jail – as well as a comprehensive off-site training center.
