The Tartan Student Fund (TSF) is Carnegie Mellon University’s premier undergraduate investment fund, managing over $120,000 in assets under management, seeded by the University’s endowment. As the flagship program of the Tepper Finance Group—the largest undergraduate finance organization at CMU—TSF stands as the pinnacle of student-driven investing on campus. TSF is structured into eight sector teams: Consumer; Software; Technology, Media & Telecommunications; Industrials; Healthcare; Financials; Energy; and Special Situations. Each team, led by a Portfolio Manager and an Associate Portfolio Manager, collaborates with their investment Analysts to research ideas and pitch long-only positions in companies within their respective sector. Through a rigorous and fundamentally-oriented investment process, our members gain hands-on experience in equity analysis, valuation, and capital allocation—bridging the gap between theoretical finance and real-world application. We actively recruit and select the most talented undergraduate students at Carnegie Mellon through a highly competitive admissions process to create an exclusive body of exceptional investors. With guidance from experienced alumni and industry professionals, our members engage in in-depth discussions on market developments, portfolio strategy, and investment theses in weekly meetings. TSF's rigorous training and unparalleled access to industry insights have resulted in the exceptional career placements of our members at leading financial institutions worldwide.
