The Company set up its plant for the manufacture of "Sodium Hydrosulphite" (SHS), with technical knowhow from Mitsubishi Corporation of Japan, through the unique "Sodium Formate Route", introduced for the first time in India. The plant is located at Karaikudi in the State of Tamilnadu (India). Currently the installed capacity of production is 14800 Metric Tonnes. "Sodium Hydrosulphite" has wide application in industries like Textiles, Paper, Pharmaceuticals, Ceramics and in the production of jaggery (which is an alternative to sugar used as sweetener) made out of sugarcane juice The Company also set up a plant for the manufacture of "Liquid Sulphur Dioxide", as a captive plant, to meet inhouse requirement for the manufacture of "Sodium Hydrosulphite", with technical know-how from M/s Garbato Implanti Chimici s.r.l. Milano, Italy. Subsequently, the Company put up two additional plants to augment supply for the production of "Sodium Hydrosulphite" and to meet external demand.
