Burn Prevention Campaign was launched called Chai Ka Nishaan (Tea Stain). Tea Stain Campaign was dedicated to Chaudhry Ahmad Saeed. This campaign is designed to help Pakistani society realize the danger of hot tea spillage and reinforce cautionary behavior towards handling hot tea. The objective is to reduce the incidence of burns with hot tea. We are also imparting First Aid education for Scald accidents to the general public to reduce the severity of burns and effect reduction of infections in burn wounds. Campaign also features launch of story book and animation of Izza ki chai party (Izza’s tea party) in native language urdu. Izza’s Tea Party is a friendly story of a loving family that provides family guide to prevent burn accidents in a home environment. It teaches children to be safe than sorry. The story revolves around a 5-year-old girl Izza
visiting her grandparent’s house for a tea party along with her mother and pets Sonu (bird) and Ella (dog). It teaches children to be careful around hot liquids and stove. The book bids a promise for children to always stay Five Steps Away from hot stove and hot liquids and tell their friends to do the same. It includes a pledge for parents to protect their children from burns. In the end it teaches first aid in case of scald burns. In less than a year we recorded 50% reduction in burn cases from the previous year among the targeted audiences.
