UCCD University Centers for Career Development

152 employees

In support of Egypt’s efforts to enhance formal career education, develop public university graduates’ employability skills, and facilitate students’ successful transition into employment, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) awarded The American University in Cairo (AUC) a cooperative agreement to implement the University Centers for Career Development (UCCD) project. The project will establish 46 UCCDs in 27 Egyptian public universities, three technical universities (Bani-Suef, Delta and New Cairo Technological University), and four not-for-profit universities (Galala International University, King Salman International University, New Mansoura University, and Alamein International University) throughout Egypt by 2026. The project will build the capacity of over 140 UCCD staff to provide a wide spectrum of career and recruitment services to around one million Egyptian public university students – including students with disabilities. UCCD staff empower students to pursue their career choices and facilitate their transition from university to the work force. In cooperation with the universities’ administration and training partners, the centers will offer a comprehensive and engaging set of interventions in the areas of: Career Management, Employability Skills, English Language, Technical Trainings, Entrepreneurship, and Digital Literacy. These above components jointly will help public university students bridge the gap between the university educational outcomes and industry needs, and increase their competitiveness in the job market to become productive citizens in their societies and contribute to their country’s future development.
