To be a catalyst in enabling sensitivity and community consciousness in children of marginalized communities through value integrated and holistic education in India. Vidya & Child enables and supports children from marginalized communities through their education life cycle. Child centric, value integrated, holistic learning and shared vision with parents enables each child to identify and explore the uniqueness within. Established in 1998, Vidya & Child works in marginalized communities, exploring the unique potential in each child by providing opportunities for value integrated learning and development. We are currently working with 1800+ children across 6 communities; 5 in Noida/Greater Noida (Delhi NCR) and 1 in Siwan (Bihar). We work for the complete education life cycle of a child through our Schools and After School Support programmes and ensure that they complete school education and are enabled to be gainfully employed in the field of their choice. Children are largely first generation learners and belong to families that have a family income of INR 10000-15000 per month. We have been able to achieve the following over 22 years - 50:50 girl to boy child ratio - Less than 5% drop out rate - Enabled children to complete the education life cycle and pursue careers in streams like Engineering, Hotel Management, Human Resource; Fine Arts, Social Work, Teaching etc. - Through a team of 150 people (on rolls) and more than 30 active volunteers. We have continuously maintained the spirit of innovation and adaption and because of that we have been able to support the children & their families through the COVID 19 pandemic period – through ration distribution, health awareness, immunity pack distribution, books distribution and most importantly continuous online engagement with children through academics and creative classes held over voice & video calls.
