The UW–Madison Department of Surgery strives to be a world leader in academic surgery, achieving extraordinary results through the collaboration of exceptional people. We conduct innovative research while building knowledge and improving surgical care through extramurally funded research programs in basic, translational and clinical science. We are proud to train the next generation of academic surgeons through educational programs for medical students, surgical residents and fellows, and provide quality continuing medical education (CME) for surgeons and health care providers in the region. We prioritize the needs and well-being of our patients, caring for them with empathy, advocacy and compassion.
