York Region Rapid Transit Corporation [YRRTC] is a wholly-owned subsidiary and share capital corporation of The Regional Municipality of York. We're also known as "vivaNext" - the name of our bus rapid transit projects. YRRTC is responsible for the planning, design and construction of York Region's rapid transit network and related infrastructure. We’ve accomplished a lot so far: -- Designed and built 34 km of bus rapid transit on York Region's busiest roads as of 2021 -- Oversaw York Region's investment in the Toronto-York Spadina Subway Extension to Vaughan, built by the Toronto Transit Commission and opened in 2017 -- Designed and built terminals and facilities to support York Region's rapid transit network, including the SmartVMC Bus Terminal in Vaughan Metropolitan Centre, Cornell Bus Terminal in Markham, and a large transit operations, maintenance and storage facility in Richmond Hill Projects underway: -- Overseeing York Region's investment in the Yonge North Subway Extension -- Pursuit of funding for priority Bus Rapid Transit projects on the Jane Street and Highway 7 East corridors in Vaughan and Markham -- Planning and preliminary engineering for York Region's priority Bus Rapid Transit projects
